Powerful Stab

Stab my eyes while they are in motion. We deny ourselves every single emotion. This is not what it means to be human. This is not what it means to be everlasting. Do you listen to your soul like you should?

Often times I sit back to get a better view of the bigger picture. It hangs so delicately over all of our heads. It is funny how it can depict whatever we want it to depict. But of course we mustn't take it too seriously. 

Eat a carrot and reminisce over all things bad. The good will naturally follow. You may have to surrender your stubborn heart. You may have to start believing in your own creative prowess. It is real! You are powerful!

Let's Come To Our Senses

 I've been occupying my time with a tremendous amount of band practice. Our first gig is this Saturday. I haven't had a lot of ideas as to what to draw/paint next. Perhaps I will try drawing each member of my band. Maybe do some portraits of them or all of us. Sounds like an okay idea. I did sketch out one drawing today after breakfast. I titled it "Senses." It is just a simple ink sketch on smooth bristol board. More to come tomorrow. I've also included a close-up pic of a clear drinking glass. I just thought it looked cool. :-)

Short Days

Are the days getting shorter or am I just in my own time warp? The days must be getting shorter because the last time I looked at a clock it was Friday and now it is Sunday. Hmmm. Just an observation. I spent most of Friday practicing with the band and hanging out with other local musicians. I spent Saturday recovering from Friday and finishing some errands. Today, I saw "The Green Hornet" movie. It's a pretty awesome movie. It was better than I had expected. I did take a break from my artwork this weekend but I will jump right back in the swing of things this upcoming week.

Here's a quick sketch I did today. I have titled it "Speak."

Disappearing Eyes, Disappearing Mind

 I spent a good 3-4 hours yesterday learning five new songs with my singer friend. We're both already getting tired of playing/learning other people's songs. He booked our first gig on February 12th. I don't why he did but he did. If we had a few more weeks to prepare then we wouldn't be feeling so pressured. Oh well. I'm doing my best not to pay too much attention to it. I find that when I don't think too much I tend to play better.

So, here are two eyes I drew up. A red eye and a green eye. I had some other idea in mind but I haven't quite worked it out yet. I've also included a pic of myself; taken after a long night.

Optical Maps

 I drew these sketches earlier this morning. I just felt like sketching a bunch of eyes. The plan is to keep sketching/drawing body parts until it becomes second nature to me. I'm not really trying to achieve any great detail with my drawings/sketches. Instead, I've decided to focus on allowing my own style to evolve of its own accord (naturally). I choose essence over technique.
