Decapitated Split

I quickly drew these two ideas on some ACEO sized acrylic paper. They both depict an abstract figure concept of sorts. The first I titled "Split Personality" and the second is titled "Decapitated Feeling." I guess you could say that I have been feeling very separated from the mainstream world (much more than usual).

Only Human

This abstract piece took on a life of its own. I originally tried to create some kind of distant rainbow effect but then decided against it because the colors were already wanting to intermingle with one another. I also tried adding a paper cut-out of the letter T but it then became warped with the acrylic paint. It is still in there but now it looks more like a nose than a T. Once it dried, this face appeared to be screaming or shouting. I believe it depicts a very raw angst towards many things. And the bright colors in the background are like a friend that is always around to cheer you up.

Gigging and Creating

Tonight I'll be playing with my band at Speaking Rock casino. It will be our second time playing there. I guess the manager of the bar/club liked us enough to book us again. He also booked us for Tuesday. Their stage setup is pretty great and they always pay the bands that play there. I can't complain much because I do happen to need the extra $. Plus, with the money I get from these gigs I'll be able to buy a few more art supplies and keep my creativity soaring. We've also been diligently writing/recording original material and so far everything is sounding awesome.

As for my art, I drew three very abstract images last night on ACEO sized acrylic paper. I pretty much just picked up a sharpie and drew some random shapes and lines until they resembled something. I actually like how they turned out. Here they are:

Indivisible

Lately, I've been painting on a whim. Just allowing my subconscious to have more control over the brush. So far there have been a lot of interesting things showing up on the canvas. I don't know exactly where my subconscious is taking me but that is what makes the whole process enjoyable! Here are three recent paintings that poured out of my subconscious. All were created with acrylics on Strathmore acrylic paper. They measure 9 inches by 12 inches.

Oh and please stop by my art shop when you can www.buddhkist.etsy.com . Maybe you'll find something you like or maybe you'll just get a sudden burst of inspiration.

I'M AWAKE ( The Full Movie ) Totally Awesome!

This is a movie that was put together by a fellow youtuber for the entire world to see! Hundreds of people contributed including me. My cameo comes in at around the 50-57 minute mark. I go by the user name buddhkist. Please share with as many people as you possibly can.

Peace, Love, Light. :-)

Stay Positive

Here's a video compilation of my recent sketches and paintings. The song is titled "Last Sympathy" and is by my band ANYTHING WRONG. (Copyright 2011)

Hope you enjoy. :-)

Sunscape

Just purchased some new art supplies last night and stayed up until 3 am painting up a storm. This is one of the resulting creations. I titled it "Sunscape." I had no original intent in mind but then later realized it resembled a landscape of sorts.

Wider

Your insecurities
and compassionate lies
leave a trail behind
that is ten miles wide
Nothing can change you
No one will save you
But yourself
It's as simple as that
There's no perfection to attain
No standard to maintain
You create yourself
You abuse the abuser
And
Offer no resolution
Your compassionate lies
and insincere cries
leave a hole
that is ten miles wide
And That
Defines You

End Of Week Of Creativity (?)

My "Week of Creativity" has come to a quick end. I was secluded in a relative's apartment for the past week. I must admit that I actually enjoyed it. Mostly because I was able to have tons more room to spread out my painting supplies and really get quite involved with my canvas. I painted 6 new abstracts and drew up sketches for at least a dozen new ideas/concepts. There was some procrastination on my part but mostly because I became captivated by the great shows on HBO. Now I am back at my regular residence and wanting to have a whole month of creativity! Perhaps a whole year! That sounds very appealing to me right now. I feel as though I need to move to France, Italy, Spain or even Holland. Or at least somewhere that is equally appealing. Somewhere that is FULL of inspiration! I'd even settle for some cabin in a vast forest/mountainous region. I do know that eventually I will come upon such a place. It's just a matter of keeping the vision of it in my head.

I haven't taken pictures of my new abstracts yet but will do so tonight and post them tomorrow. For now, here's a pic of a still life sketch. It was done with oil pastels on copier paper. It turned out slightly askew but I think it adds a little more to it.

Without Fail

I am slipping back into a major abstract painting phase/period. I will have a whole week to myself in which I can explore various techniques and concepts without being bothered by any external noise. Here is one such abstract exploration that revealed itself to me. I titled it "Without Fail."

Look For Controversy

Here are some new ink sketches on 3.5 index cards. I've been tinkering around with the idea of using more controversial images/symbols in my work. There are some very important messages I'd like to get across to people but I know that if I were to just come right out and share my perspective then most people won't bother listening. Now, if I were to share my perspective through my art then people would first pay attention to the external shapes and colors but at the same time their subconscious would absorb each grain of knowledge embedded within those shapes and colors. It makes no difference whether they happen to agree or disagree with my perspective. The only thing that would matter is the fact that they would be exposing their mind(s) to something outside of conventional society.

Primitive One

A new abstract painting I painted last night. I have titled it "Primitive One" because it reminds me of the kind of shapes and glyphs that cavemen and ancient peoples would paint on the walls of caves and tombs. I used watercolors and acrylics on a USPS box. Right now I am limited on my supplies so I've found that boxes are a very inexpensive canvas. I can get them for free at my local post office. An artist must do what he can with the materials that are available to him.

Writer

There's something to be said
For the spoken word
There's something to be said
For the written word
So much has been written
So much yet to be written
One writer can write
A million words
One word can
Inspire a million writers
There's something to be said
About the fluidity of a pen
And the thought-provoking
letters coursing through
My Head

More Peculiar

All those times
I dared not to whisper
Was I longing for something?
Who Knows
I should be the one to know
But, Alas
I don't know
There was only one
One Moment
One Figure
One dimension in which
I resided
Perhaps I still reside there
A little wiser
A little broader
Much more peculiar

Figurative Picasso

Last night I drew some still life sketches of fruit accompanied by different body parts. I don't know exactly what I was trying to display by doing so. Perhaps the answer will come to me at a later time. I also drew a really quick sketch of one of Picasso's blue period paintings. It doesn't look too shabby for a sketch. It has definitely given me an idea for an original figurative painting. :-)
