Metropolis

I drew some adjacent buildings with permanent markers. I titled this piece "Metropolis." It measures 9 inches by 12 inches. Can you tell which is right-side up? I don't think even I can.

Abstract Jackson Mountain

I've been slowly reconfiguring my own definition of abstract art. I find that when I am in the midst of splashing and meshing colors together I enter into a trance of sorts. It doesn't last long but when I am in it I feel nothing but complete oneness. Of course, I know that everyone and everything is always interconnected and that nothing can ever change that fact. But knowing is not the same as being.

So, with that acknowledged... here are two recent abstract paintings of mine. The first is titled "Swarming Solitude." Somehow I ended up painting a mountain scene. I think it has something to do with wanting to reconnect with the simplicity of nature. The second is titled "No One Knows" and it is more in the vein of Jackson Pollock. They both measure 9 inches by 12 inches.

Era

I created this abstract concept last night. I used pastels and an empty diet coke box. I'm not sure about its measurement but it is about 11 inches by 15.5 inches. It did take a good 2-3 hours to complete it. I like the way the colors sit so close together. I don't know if I will put it up for sale yet. I might just admire it for a few more days. I will definitely create some (smaller) similar pieces. I have titled this "Era."

Still More Life

I drew these two still life concepts this morning. I used permanent markers and some watercolor markers. They measure 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches. I'm starting to get used to drawing a lot more fruit.

Portrait Pooped

I'm taking a short break from doing anymore portraits but the ideas are still churning in my head. I painted five separate portraits of five relatives within the span of a week. They unwrapped them yesterday and seemed to enjoy staring at their own likeness. I think I will get back into creating a lot more abstract stuff. I do like experimenting with color and texture.

Here are some pics I took of myself. I particularly like the first one because it looks like the light is emitting from my head. Perhaps I will use one of these photos as my next portrait idea(s).

On another note, I hope EVERYONE had a great xmas! I'm looking forward to embracing the new year. :-)

Perfect December

Here's my new video which showcases some recent artwork of mine. The song is by my band Anything Wrong (2004-2006). I play lead and rhythm guitar. Song title is "Perfect." We went our separate ways in late 2005 but have kept in touch through email and facebook. Our demo isn't available anywhere right now. Perhaps if enough people really like our sound then I'll see about making it available for download/purchase. I have been recording lots of new material with an awesome singer and we have a lot of plans for 2011. We don't have a permanent band name yet but so far our songs have received some great feedback. I'll post some song clips within the next few months or so. Until then, enjoy this video and rockin' song!

Snow Men

Merry Xmas Eve to all! I have been a bit busy with the process of creating my gifts and wrapping them and what not. I will most likely post lots of pics once the gift-giving is all said and done. I'll also be working on a new video which will showcase my recent creations. It will just be a simple, short video with pics. In the mean time, here are two snowmen I drew with oil pastels. I've also posted a pic of myself that I took after finishing up some elaborate portrait paintings. I think I look quite contented.

Have an awesome Xmas! :-)

Pastels On Fish Box

Here are 4 new pastel pieces I just created. I used oil pastels and an empty fish fillet box. I was surprised how bright the pastels look on the cardboard. The only thing I don't like about pastels is how easily they rub off on your fingers. But I usually expect to get a little messy when it comes to creating art. :-)

Have an awesome day and even awesomer holiday season!

Miniature Art

Two new ACEO's (Art Cards Editions & Originals) which measure 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches. They are also known as artist trading cards. They are a great way for art lovers to collect original pieces without having to spend vast amounts of money.
The first one I titled "Sockets" and the second is titled "Chocolate Eyes." I drew them with a fine-tip sharpie and colored them with some oil pastels. Enjoy.

These will be listed in my Etsy Shop.

Can't Stop This

From birth we've been taught to only believe in material things and that we can only be happy if we acquire large amounts of money and objects. It can be difficult to break away from this mostly because it leaves one open to scrutiny and ridicule. But the paradigm is rapidly changing before our eyes. :-)

Still Life Drawings

My newest still life drawings. I might just do some canvas versions of them. I went to my local art supply store today (Hobby Lobby) and picked up some oil pastels and drawing pads. I will be creating some personalized paintings for my family this year. I will definitely post pics of them when I am done. But for now here are the three still life drawings.

Let me know what you think. I've also listed these in my Etsy Shop. :-)

Recent December Photos

Here are some recent December pics I've taken. I just have a basic pocket-sized digital camera that I tend to carry with me most days. If I see something/someone in an interesting pose or scene I like to capture it and then try to imagine how it would look like as a drawing or painting. It is something I encourage everyone to try. :-)

Home

Two new charcoal drawings. I titled the first one "Homage" and the second "Neighbors." There isn't much that can compare to the comfort of one's own home. Especially during the holidays.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!

Think, Question, Reach

I drew these three on some index cards with a fine tip sharpie. I really like drawing different abstract faces and body parts. It could be an attempt at trying to imagine the human form in some other unknown construct.

Together

I tend to laugh at those who are still asleep and buy into all the fear-based stuff. They will not awaken until they are faced with a major precipice and such a precipice is indeed unfolding. Each individual has their own journey to follow and it is important to respect that. We will all ascend together.

Peace, Love, Light. :-)

Fresh Face

Just drew this abstract face an hour ago. The paper is pretty thin and flimsy so I'll probably re-draw it on something sturdier soon. Maybe even paint it onto a canvas.

I also posted a "What is Your Favorite Color?" poll to the right. Give a quick answer if you can. And if anyone has any good ideas for future polls please leave a comment below. Gracias! :-)

Some Older Works of Mine

Here are some past paintings/drawings of mine.

I sold all of these on Ebay and in my Etsy shop over the course of 5 months. They also happen to chart my "growth" as an artist. Lately, I've been looking to combine abstract painting with some figure drawing. I believe I am getting close to such a concept.
